Yes, you are allowed to appoint a co-supervisor from other institutions or practitioners. Please refer to UiTM Postgraduate Academic Regulations.
2. How about the seminar/workshop that we can join in order to improve knowledge about thesis writing?
IPSis offers many seminars/workshops to help students in thesis writing, such as thesis boot camps, surviving your viva, how to get published in high impact journals, speed reading skills, smart referencing using Mendeley, managing your database for literature review, research ethics, Thesis Formatting Workshop, and more.
3. May I know about the 2 journals that need to be published for PhD students, can both journals be from review papers?
It is suggested that the publication should cover methodology and outcomes from the PhD study. However, you should discuss with your supervisor to determine the appropriate publications for your PhD study.
4. How can I get the supervisor?
You may refer to the postgraduate office at your respective faculty/college to find your potential supervisor or you can search for potential supervisors at UiTM Expert UiTM.
5. For PhD candidates, the seminar class: Do we need to enroll in the course manually or are we enrolled automatically?
All seminar classes conducted by IPSis must be registered using the provided registration link from IPSis.
6. I would like to change study mode from full-time to part-time. Who do I need to talk to and ask for approval?
Please refer to the postgraduate office at your respective faculty/college. They will advise you accordingly.
7. For master by research, is it allowed to do journal publication or not?
The publication requirement for thesis submission in UiTM covers indexed publications including journals and proceedings.
8. How many supervisors do we need for PhD?
The minimum number of supervisors for PhD is 2, which includes one main supervisor and one co-supervisor. However, the number of co-supervisors can be up to 3, depending on the research area and needs.
9. I’m a part-time research student. Does this mean my DRP will be in 12 months and I need to attend the IPSis research skill seminar before DRP? Can I join another semester?
As a part-time student in the master’s program, DRP must be completed within 12 months from the date of registration. You are required to attend the IPSis research skill seminar before DRP. As a part-time PhD student, DRP must be completed within 18 months. You are required to attend the IPSis research skill seminar and the TIE2 seminar before DRP.
10. Can I have a supervisor from a different course?
Yes, as long as he/she can contribute to your research problem.
11. There are 2 series of research skill seminars in April and June. Do we need to attend both, or can we choose either one session?
IPSis research skill seminar is offered twice every semester; you just need to attend one session and must complete all modules.
12. How many times can we sign up for the conference support fund? Only once throughout the course or for every conference?
As a master’s student, you only qualify to apply for the conference support fund one time during your duration of study. As a PhD student, you qualify up to 2 times to apply for the conference support fund during your duration of study.
13. Is an international student eligible to apply for UPTA?
Yes, it is open to all postgraduate students (subject to the terms and conditions).
14. If I already have a grant scheme for my study, am I still eligible to apply for UPTA?
No, you are not eligible.
15. Can part-time students apply for UPTA?
No, it is only for full-time students.
16. Can GRA students apply for My Brain 2.0?
Each student is allowed to receive one type of financial assistance at one time.
17. Do I need to submit a manual nomination for my supervisor if I have already applied through UPTracks?
If you have appointed a supervisor through UPTracks, there is no need for a manual appointment.
18. Is there any maximum time limit for students to complete their DRP?
We have provided a DRP period as a guideline for students and supervisors. All students are encouraged to adhere to the set timeframe to achieve the GOT. If a student has not completed their DRP within the specified period, we will inquire with the respective faculty/college/branch campus to investigate the student's issues. There is no specific maximum duration set, but it will be closely monitored if a student has not completed their DRP within that timeframe.
19. When is the earliest possible date to do the defense proposal after attending the research skill seminar? Is it one month after attending the seminar?
The DRP session can be conducted if the student has met the requirements, such as attending the RSS module and the TIE2 module (PhD). The DRP session can be organized by the postgraduate office at the respective faculty/college/branch campus. It can be conducted as soon as possible according to the respective faculty/college/branch campus. Please refer to their tentative plan for the DRP session.
20. What should I do if I face issues nominating my supervisor in UPTracks?
Don't worry, all students facing issues with appointing a supervisor through the UPTracks system can file an ICT complaint. Our team will try to resolve the issue for each student.
21. Should PhD research students from abroad also provide a supervisor from their home university?
It is not mandatory by UiTM. The appointment requirements from the home university are based on the scholarship or the requirements of the home university.
22. Does the UPTrack system start with the semester OCT students only? How about previous semester students?
It has commenced for students who registered since October 2020.
23. For the Master’s Programme, do we need to nominate both a main supervisor and a co-supervisor?
For the master's program, only one supervisor is mandatory, but having a co-supervisor is encouraged. You can discuss this matter with the main supervisor.
24. Can I add another co-supervisor from the industry after nominating my main and co-supervisors?
Yes, you may add appointments of co-supervisors from the industry. There's no need to wait for all appointments to be completed. The new appointments will be brought back to the JKAPS by the postgraduate office at the respective faculty/college/branch campus.
25. Is there some kind of logbook provided to record my research journey during my study? My sponsor requires this for reporting.
Previously, we had a logbook, but due to certain circumstances, we no longer have it. As a result, students are required to directly report their thesis progress to their supervisor. It may be possible to follow the format suggested by the supervisor.
26. What should I do if I can't find my supervisor's name in the UPTracks dropdown menu?

27. I am pursuing a full-time Master's by Research at UiTM Shah Alam. There is a requirement for us to undergo a medical health check-up. May I ask how and where I should submit the documents? Additionally, could you please inform me of the submission deadline?
The Medical Health Check-up is mandatory for international students and full-time students only. International students must submit their medical reports to the UiTM Global Office to finalize visa processes. Students are also required to submit a completed and doctor-certified Health Declaration Form. This form, completed after the medical check-up, must be submitted as part of the registration process to enroll in the program.
28. I would like to inquire further about the EPC as explained by the Department of Recruitment and Admission. How can we determine if our offer letter includes the EPC?
Please be advised that the EPC is intended solely for international students who enroll without the required English competency results. IPSis staff will inform candidates who need to register for the EPC program at the time the Offer Letter is issued.
29. I am a new student from another IPTS (Degree) and have applied for my Master's at UiTM. I have submitted my registration form and all the required documents to IPSis. May I know what the next steps are? Is there anything else I need to add or do?
UiTM Postgraduate Programs welcome applications from all candidates who meet the program's entry requirements, including graduates from private higher education institutions. All supporting documents for postgraduate program applications must be submitted directly to the respective faculty for processing. Similarly, registration documents must also be submitted to the respective faculty. Please note that personal or academic documents should not be sent to IPSis.
30. I graduated with a Master's degree from UiTM. Do I need to submit a new English language score for my PhD application? I noticed that my MUET score has not been updated in my student portal.
Local students are not required to submit MUET results. Admission IPSis will include a note in the application system indicating "Graduate from Malaysia (GFM).
31. If we are enrolled in a coursework Master's program at UiTM, can we apply for UPTA? We do not have a job or financial means to support our studies.
Please note that UPTA is available for full-time students, regardless of the study mode (research, coursework, or mixed mode).
32. How long will it take to receive the student ID after submitting online?
Your student ID will be stated in your offer letter.
33. May I ask, if we apply for UPTA, do we need to return to the university, or can it be done online?

34. Can CSF fund only a one-day seminar or conference, or can it cover events lasting more than one day?
CSF covers only the conference or registration fee and does not depend on the duration of the event.

39. For UPTA, if selected, do we need to prepare a mock teaching session for the interview?
No mock teaching is required, as UPTA participants cannot give lectures or be assigned to teach. UPTA can only assist lecturers in preparing teaching materials, or act as tutors in labs, studios, or fieldwork.
40. I am enrolled in the part-time Master's program and have already submitted my PTPTN loan application. During the submission, I created a new RHB account for this loan, but I have not yet received the bank card. The bank officer informed me that the card would be issued after the study begins. 42. For tuition fees, can I pay half using my KWSP and the other half using my own money?
You cannot pay half using KWSP and the other half using your own money for the same semester's fee. For example, if the fee for the semester in October 2024 is RM2000, you must pay the full amount either using your KWSP or your own money. You cannot pay RM1000 using KWSP and the remaining balance using your own funds.
43. For the RHB student card, should we liaise directly with RHB Bank, or do we need to go to campus? I understand that we need to submit pictures for the card, but how exactly do we apply for it? Will there be a briefing or slides to explain the process? Many of us, especially alumni with existing cards or bank accounts, are unsure about the procedure. I would appreciate a clear and straightforward answer.

69. What are the differences between part-time and full-time Master's by research?
Part-time Master's students by research must undergo a defense of their research proposal within one year, while full-time students must complete it within six months. Part-time students may also find it difficult to apply for scholarships, as many scholarships require full-time status.
70. How can we know our timetable for full-time research Master's programmes? There are no subjects to register in the course registration portal.

72. May I know the timeframe within which the conversion status will be announced after the DRP conversion is completed?
Once a student submits an application for conversion, an oral assessment must be conducted, which will be evaluated by two experts from the relevant field. The expert assessors will then provide a recommendation to the Head of Postgraduate Studies. If both expert assessors support the application, it will be presented to the faculty's meetings and then proceed to the university’s meeting. The process typically takes about six months to complete.
73. Before we nominate a supervisor (SV), the PIC asked us to contact the respective Penyelaras Pascasiswazah at the faculty to confirm the eligibility of nominated SVs. Could you let me know where I can find this information? Is it available on the faculty website?
